Rivalries have been going on since the dawn of time. My wooden spear is better than yours, my cave is bigger, my pyramid is taller, my castle is invincible, my plane is faster, my car is…lower? OK well its a weird thing to be rivalries over, but hey we’re car guys and its a form of style that one wants to be best at. How I got these two to meet up together at the same location is beyond a miracle in itself. That and they want to put it all to the table and see who truly has the lowest cleanest ride.

And now, the third and final chapter in The Great American Road Trip.

Part 6: Ever Closer

The New York portion of the drive is fairly short, yet scenic and simple. While in The Empire State, we take another break. Seth takes over driving duty, and life goes on as normal. A few more Red Bulls and a bad sandwich from Burger King keep us going, but the real driving force is knowing that we will be out of the car by tonight. At this point, the car is still riding smooth, although the tire seems to have a slow leak. As a result, we stop every hundred miles or so to put a few PSI into it, but it’s a small price to pay for the freedom of the open road. +Continue Reading

Part 3: The Deep South

At the Florida-Georgia state line, there’s a rest area. We stop to take, well, a quick rest. At this point, we decide to make a driver change. It’s my first time behind the wheel on this great venture. To be honest, I’m quite excited. Seth’s car isn’t just another factory-equipped GTI. With a Revo ECU tune

The Great American Road Trip. One of those seemingly mythical journeys that leads to epic stories, life-changing revelations, and plenty of hilarious antics. This probably wasn’t one of those journeys, but it was still pretty damn fun. Many local people in the car scene know Seth Hardy. As the man-in-charge at Central Florida Euro, as well as the proprietor of CoolStickersBro.com, he has made the rounds at car shows and events all around the area. So when he was enlisting some help with his move back to his hometown in Massachusetts, I knew there was not only a decent article to be had, but also a fun adventure. +Continue Reading

Why Hybrids? – Part 2 – Alternative Fuels

Compressed natural gas, propane, liquefied petroleum gas, fully electric vehicles and bio-diesel fuel are great alternative fuel sources. They save the environment, most get decent gas mileage, and the concept is wonderful. I am all for alternative fuels. However, a big problem with some of the alternative fuels is that they are not readily available in the U.S. Compressed natural gas (CNG), propane, liquefied petroleum gas or electricity hook ups at fueling stations just don’t exist. The amount of time and money it would take to make these hook ups readily available to the public would be tremendous. Additionally, the governmental regulatory agencies, and entities with special interests against alternative fuels would have to be dealt with politically, which is another significant problem. +Continue Reading

Bugatti Veyron engine and interior

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 photo by JC

Cars for the Cure is a car show for the cure of lung diseases. What makes this show so breath taking, no pun intended? It’s the sheer amount of exotic cars that pack the Lake Mary area shopping center for that cause. A total of 167 cars rolled into this cross shaped plaza including cars from Aston Martin, Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati, and Bugatti. Back to back and side to side these beastly four wheeled creatures stood, sporting v12 engines, turbochargers, and wide rubber tires. Some individual owners brought out their collection of cars, like Nelson Cambata who owns two Bugatti Veyrons. It was also nice to see institutions like the Central Florida Hospital showing the collection of Dr. Ben Kazim on their behalf. All of the collectors made sizable contributions for the cause. +Continue Reading

R32 Rear End

Volkswagen R32 by Xavier

Everyone judges people, whether or not you admit it you do. I’m guilty of it, I judge everyone I meet for the first time. When introduced to Peter Bennet I had a few thoughts. One, he is probably a cat owner. Two, he wears A LOT of Volkswagen shirts. Three, he has an unyielding obsession for cars. Hmm, three for three not bad. To be honest Pete is an avid Vee Dub guy, hard to the core and down to ride to any show. Pete has culminated this love not only into one badass car, but two! Check this out, the R32 is the GTI god, all wheel drive, VR6 engine, bad all the way down to the stitching on the Konig bucket seats. Then there is the Volkswagen Cabrio……hahaha! Cute little car, nice roll back top, and little quiet 2.0 engine. Pete’s Cabby is like the quiet chick at a party…..after she’s had about six Jager bombs! Both of these cars are awesome, and here’s why. +Continue Reading

Volkswagen Jetta TDI

Hybrid, fuel efficient, eco, and green are all terms you might hear when talking to somebody about getting a new vehicle in this time of exorbitant gas prices and climate change. These terms get tossed around very loosely in commercials, at car dealerships, and during small talk.  But how much does the average person know about fuel efficient vehicles? How much does a car enthusiast know about environmentally friendly vehicles? A vast majority of the U.S. population doesn’t know much beyond the commercials and small talk. When asking hybrid owners why they picked their hybrid over a small diesel engine they didn’t have any good reason except that they thought that the hybrid was better for the environment and got the best mileage.

I have spoken with six different hybrid drivers. Five of which drive the popular Toyota Prius +Continue Reading
