Manufacturer Shows
Last Sunday I had the chance to go to my first manufacturer show at the Jacksonville International Car and Truck Show located at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center in Jacksonville, Fl. I wasn’t sure what to expect so I went in hoping for the best and it turned out to be a pretty good time. Just about every car manufacturer was there from Audi to Ford to Honda. Every brand had a local dealer to represent them most of which coming from Jacksonville. The only out of town dealership was Orlando Lamborghini who was the only one to bring any exotic cars. The show was fairly cheap at eight dollars and all the cars were in semi-dim lit rooms parked throughout the convention center. Each manufacturer and dealership took a corner or room to have their representatives answer questions about their cars.
The show had a very laid back environment and visitors were able to get into the cars to feel how they liked them. You could hear the doors slamming, trunks opening, and kids running around hopping into cars and climbing through them like they were in a McDonald’s Play Place. It was quite busy all three days of the show. If you are looking for a car to buy then I highly recommend going to a show like this in a town near yourself. It would be well worth the drive if you are thinking about buying a car in the next year or two so that you can really see what’s out on the playing field. The amount of information you can acquire in such a short amount of time is really key. Especially since you can really feel the size of each car as you get into them. Pictures can only show so much and are often modified or enhanced to make it look better.
Often these shows aren’t going to be held near you unless you live in a bigger city so you might have to drive an hour or two in order to get to them. This may seem like a really big inconvenience instead of going to all of your local dealerships but the amount of time you have to spend to driving between dealerships, talking to salesmen, and trying to get out without them taking your soul takes up quite a large amount of time.
Always remember to do your homework on your cars. There’s a lot of hype that all manufacturers put out about their cars and it’s up to you to sift your way through all the BS and get down to the real information and facts behind a car.
